| The
cell phones can be dropped off at any of the nine Goodwill
stores in the Fort Worth area.
Fort
Worth, TX (PRWEB) September 12, 2004 -- Goodwill Industries
of Forth Worth and RMS Communications Group Inc. of Ocala,
Fla., a recycler of old cellular telephones, announced today
that they will partner to collect old cell phones and turn
them into cash.
Under
the agreement, Goodwill Industries of Forth Worth will accept
the donations of any and all old cell phones at their nine
Fort Worth locations. RMS Communications Group Inc. will
pay between $1 and $70 for each useable phone, and will
carefully recycle and dispose of unusable phones.
Usable
phones will be refurbished by RMS and may be resold in such
places as South America; some other phones may be donated
by RMS to domestic violence shelters, senior centers or
other worthwhile organizations.
David Cox, director of retail sales and marketing for Goodwill
Industries of Forth Worth, said area people had been asking
if Goodwill would accept donated cell phones.
“We
noticed that local people had an interest in finding ways
of disposing of the cell phones that they were no longer
using,” Cox said. “We were delighted to find
that RMS offers such a useful -- and responsible -- plan
for recycling old cell phones.
“This
new partnership will keep old cell phones out of landfills,
where they can cause environmental damage,” said James
Mosieur, chief executive officer of RMS Communications Group.
“Plus, it will generate revenue that will support
Goodwill’s programs and mission.”
